I have coached designers for years, and the pattern never changes. The work is strong. The write-up never happens. Enterprise projects are the worst affected: the ones under NDA, the ones with no screenshots, the ones where explaining the constraint takes longer than showing the screen.

So the designer who solved a genuinely hard problem loses to the one who wrote a nice case study about a food delivery app. That is a documentation problem, and documentation problems are solvable.
